Trends in the Craft Beer Industry

Here at Station Works Brewery we love keeping up to date with all the latest craft beer trends happening around the world. So we thought we would put together a blog post showing you the top five trends we are excited about right now! We would love for you to tell us your favourite trend, so tweet us @StationWorksBrewery and tell us which one is your favourite or let us know if there are any that we have missed!

German Beers German Beers have been all the rage this year and they just keep growing in popularity, especially around Ireland. To help us with this growing trend we’ve added a German Brewer to the team!

Hops, Hops and more Hops! If you love craft beer you know that people can’t get enough Hops! We have just the thing to quench your hop thirst with the newest addition to our Foxes Rock range. Stay tuned for what’s to come on our @TheFoxesRock twitter page!

Barrel Ageing One of our all time favourite trends is Barrel ageing! We have been ageing our Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale in Bourbon Barrels since 2006, and we like it so much that we decided to do it with our first ever experimental brew… Foxes Rock Barrel Aged Chocolate Stout! This isn’t available in bottles but we did have it on draught at the RDS Craft Beer Fair back in September. If you were lucky enough to try it you know that it went down a treat!

Session Beers When people think of craft beers they usually think high percentage! But this isn’t the case, with a lot of craft beer lovers favouring lighter and more session-able beers. Although they are much lighter they are still full of flavour! Session beers are a great stepping stone for anyone getting into craft beer. If you’re looking for a great session beer we would definitely recommend our Finn Pilsner!

Gluten Free One of the most surprising trends to come out this year is Gluten Free beer! If you’re an attendee of the Craft beer festivals in Ireland you will know that this is the style of beer that everyone is looking for. So for all the coeliacs out there that still struggle to find beers you can drink, this trend is only growing so expect to see a lot more Gluten Free beer in the future! Watch this space for our very own gluten free lager coming soon!
